DeceitOCTOR

Cleared exams

became a doctor

Took the oath of

being a protector

A job near to God,

with time became

more of a fraud

Indulged myself

in all the deceits, be it

a simple cesarean or my

other operational feats

These hands have

performed umpteen

unnecessary operations

On being paid enough

have killed lots of

God's pink* creations

Bleeding souls

that fear death

feed me with my

daily bread

Yes i feed upon

fear and not

compassion

For me, they are

mere products

on the assembly-line

troubled by God, and

sent to make

my wallet shine

Public service

Humanity, Love or

Altruism

All subdued when

seen through my

money prism

*pink - girl (implying female infanticide)

Another 3WW, the three words were Deceit, Indulge and Oath.

Another look at a practice that must have light shed upon it. Well-crafted and the message is clear.

Phew, I don't know how you get your head around this.
I think you made a clear point here though.
Well written.

I read an article this morning that said writers have a moral imperative to write about issues. This was the second excellently written 3WW to talk about female infanticide. Can't write about it enough

@Jeeves,
In fact, very much true in the less educated Asian societies.

@Gautami,
True..

@ThomG,
It certainly requires a sincere effort to curb this ill practice.

@anthony.

@Sweettalkingguy,
Glad that you liked it.

@pia,

A doctor's dilemma or rAther a doctor's GREED.
But any of the side you have wonderfully put it.
I have a bloddy mindset that a poem wud be a poem only if it ends with same s's r's etc.
But every time I read yours my ideology gets shattered.
I feel wat you write is tough.
Great work man.Keep going

@Harsha,

Glad that you liked the so called 'unconventional' style. Thanks for dropping by.

I like how this addresses both female infanticide and the way society glorifies doctors and allows them to glorify themselves as gods.

This one talks about a topic that is close to my heart.

There are good and bad sides in any profession and medicine isn't spared of it.

Good poem!

Welcome Zorlone..and true this is the bad side..

I think more of us are aware of female infanticide. Some choose to deny or ignore it.

No profession is immune to greed and deceit.

Unknown said...

Its not only about doctors..... money matters for every human despite of any profession....

human being...gods best creation
money...human's best creation thats wat every body thinks...
and it should nt be...i really hate such guys....

Unknown said...

well... very well written...tragic but true.... when will people learn dat money never matters most... its jus an illusion...

Unknown said...

also you can write on the condition of education system... which is nt more than a business now...

sudharm baxi said...

@susan,
Awareness is the key to kill such practice.

@niket,

Slight disagreement here, it is not the money that drive those scoundrels; it is the greed, the want, that prompts them to attempt such horrendous crimes.

And education system, for sure is screwed, would surely write something on that. Thanks!!
